The physical, intellectual, emotional and social development of young children sets the foundation and groundwork towards school readiness and lifelong learning which ultimately shapes and serves the social and economic advancement of society. The quality and coverage of early childhood development services for children aged 0-4 years is poor with Grade R currently the strongest element of preschool learning and support. It is in this regard that we aim to provide a Holistic and Common Understanding of Early Childhood Development that supports the universalization of best practice in Early Childhood Development.
